This weekend, the eSkootr Championship races into Sion, Switzerland, for the second round of the inaugural eSC season. Hot on the trail of the Championship opener in London two weeks ago, the 30 eSC riders will race around a purpose-built track winding through the heart of the picturesque Swiss city. Thousands of spectators will crowd into the city centre to watch the free event and many more can tune in on TV and live streaming on the App. The eSkootr Championship races form part of the International Transition Festival held in Sion from May 24-29 which celebrates the move towards a more sustainable society, focusing on a variety of themes from daily life including mobility and transportation. The Festival is the ideal backdrop for an eSC event, with educational workshops, displays and presentations about ways to achieve greener, safer cities. Sion is now the second city to be announced by eSC, with further locations in France, Italy, Spain and the USA soon to be released. As with all the cities to be announced, eSC aims to bring together micromobility stakeholders to collaborate on promoting smarter, safer and more sustainable mobility choices for all.

Sion International Transition Festival 

<p>Sion in Switzerland plays host to the second round of the inaugural eSkootr Championship (eSC). Owned by Olympic Gold winner and 2x Heavyweight Champion of the World, Anthony Joshua, 258 Racing aim to be the eSC’s big hitters. “I’m a fan and I’m looking forward to seeing the championship develop over time. I’m hoping to, where I can, add a little magic and help the team and championship develop its potential. I look forward to seeing you at a race.” 

PLYR:1 became the first team to take victory in an eSC championship thanks to a stellar performance from Matis Neyroud. The young Swiss freestyle scooter rider was on top of his game winning his heat, quarter and semi final on the way to the final where he held of a determine challenge from Dan Brooks.

Founded in 1996, Carlin have won championships in British Formula 3 series and championships in Formula 2, Formula Renault 3.5 and F4. More recently, they have successfully expanded into North America to compete in IndyCar. Drivers who have learnt their trade with Carlin include F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, plus Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz Jr and Lando Norris, as well as Indy 500 winners Takuma Sato and Will Power, and Formula E multiple champion Jean-Eric Vergne. “What really appeals to us about eSC is its affordability and accessibility,” said Trevor Carlin. “It really takes a new approach in terms of racing, technology and the overlap into real-life mobility.”


Led by former professional road cyclist, Olympian and 24-time Grand Tour veteran, Nico Roche.
Nico originally took part in eSC’s rider testing programme before deciding to set up his own team and carry the Irish flag into competition. He’s playing an active role in building the team and working with the riders and also in a wider role of promoting Ireland’s progressive micromobility stance on the national and international stage. ‘I’m a huge believer in what eSC stands for in terms of accessibility, gender neutrality and sustainability, and have been working closely with the team to be involved in some way.”

F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg is excited about motorsport and eager to play a role in developing safer, cleaner cities, making him the perfect team owner for eSC. The team will have to work hard if they are to keep up with the Le Mans 24-Hour winner who will be bringing meticulous race preparation and high fitness levels to the grid. ‘Racing in urban cities is unique and will be a great stage to develop sustainable and a safe mobility’ – Nico Hulkenberg 

Dublin-based Murphy Scooters are led by former Asian F3 driver and Murphy Prototypes founder Greg Murphy. Greg Murphy has spent more than a decade running the Murphy Prototypes team in the European Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans with such drivers as Karun Chandhok and Brendan Hartley.
Murphy Prototypes has an ‘Alternative Powered Vehicles’ division which specialises in designing vehicles which use alternative power sources including electricity.
“eSC represents the perfect intersection between our sporting pedigree and advanced technology ambitions,” says Greg. “We look forward to helping create a new generation of racer that will also positively impact the alternative energy and transportation sectors.” 

Owned by Austrian mountain biker, YouTube sensation and entrepreneur Fabio Wibmer, SICK! Series Racing are the eSC team with a creative edge. Sick! Racing team is the latest venture from mountain biker, YouTube star and serial entrepreneur Fabio Wibmer. Having built a YouTube channel with over 7 million subscribers and more than a billion views, Fabio branched into sports and fashion wear with his SICK! clothing brand. Racing fan Fabio believes that with its combination of high energy competition and creative content, eSC can capture the imaginations of a large audience. “I’m passionate about creating engaging and compelling content that offers viewers something different and pushes boundaries. The racing is completely new and I’m excited to see the series evolve over the coming seasons.”
